- Abstract:
- Oestrus ovis Linnaeus 1761 (Diptera : Oestridae) is the almost cosmopolitan and well known myiasis causing dipterous insect species which affects the health of sheep and goats in many parts of the world. The parasitic phase of Oestrus ovis begins after adult females deposit the 1st larval instar into the nostrils of hosts; these larvae develop into the 2nd and 3rd larval instars in the nasopharyngeal cavities and frontal sinuses.
